Dashed hopes

Running:
I think today my hopes of being able to run the Paavo Nurmi marathon 8/8 have been dashed. Today was supposed to be a 14 miler on my schedule. My right hamstring was so sore from yesterday's effort that I just couldn't do it. I got about 1/2 mile into my run and just chose to cash it in for the day. My total for this week was a very weak 22 miles. I'll probably take a couple days off and hopefully get in to the doc to get it checked out. Since coming back from injury there have been little nagging things I've never felt before. Anytime I've tried to push it a bit there is always a setback. I guess now I have to start setting my sights on the Lakefront marathon in October. Lot's of time even if I have to take a little off right now. It's just frustrating to not be able to go like I could back in March pre injury.

Hunting:

Here's another picture I had sent to me a while ago. I've seen pictures of two bucks with locked horns before but never three. How do you suppose that happened?

Gardening:
Raspberries are coming fast and furious now. For a couple weeks now I will be able to pick several quarts of berries each day. I am able to swap lots of my produce with my neighbor for fresh eggs. Other extras go to family, friends and coworkers. The Japanese beetles are out in force now. In a couple days they have almost demolished a wild rose bush near my main vegetable garden. I saw my first Potato beetles today too. I picked about 20 in the larvae stage off the plants this morning. I knew it was to good to be true. See 7/2 post.
